Welcome released in Pakistan Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, February 12, 2008 - 13:56 IST

Firoz Nadiadwala's Welcome, which has been a huge hit across the globe, finally released in Pakistan on February 8, 2008.

Despite meeting the criteria of the censor board in Pakistan, it was delayed for many reasons. The reason for delay was mainly because of Feroz Khan, who was banned in Pakistan. It may be recalled that Feroz Khan's films were banned in Pakistan following his remarks at a public forum when he had accompanied brother Akbar Khan for the release of Taj Mahal. Though the censor board in Pakistan finally cleared the film, it had ordered few cuts in Feroz's dialogues and scenes.

The Indian Film Company, the worldwide distributors of Welcome, had to lobby hard through its Pakistani distribution agents to get the film cleared for the release. According to The Indian Film Company, Pakistan is a lucrative country and they will try to release all their films over there.
