‘Dil Jo Bhi Kahey’ distributors compensated

Rarely does one hear of film producers compensating their distributors after the movie has flopped. Years ago, Subhash Ghai refunded almost Rs. 1 crore to the all-India distributors of TRIMURTI after the film bombed at the box-office.
The producers of the Big B – Karan Sharma starrer DIL JO BHI KAHEY [released in 2005] have repeated the generous act.
Entertainment One, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adlabs Films Ltd., has passed a certain percentage of the money incurred from satellite rights’ sale of DIL JO BHI KAHEY to the distributors of the film, who had lost money on its theatrical release.
20% of the contractual fees of the distributors of C.P. Berar, West Bengal, Mysore, Rajasthan, Punjab, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh have been refunded in a compensational gesture.
The telecast rights of DIL JO BHI KAHEY were bought at a good price by Zee Cinema, who, in turn, profitably marketed and screened the film on December 31 as a year-ending event.
