While CHOCOLATE has met with diverse reactions from moviegoers -- some liked it, some didn’t -- director Vivek Agnihotri has moved on.

After attempting a thriller in his first big-screen venture, Agnihotri is planning a sport-based film next. “It’ll revolve around football,” Agnihotri divulges. Did the critical success of IQBAL prompt him to make a film on a sports-based theme? “Not at all,” the techno-savvy director corrects me, “I’ve always believed in making a film on human triumph. In fact, much before I made CHOCOLATE, I’d made a tele-film for Sahara called BOOND, which revolved around an alcoholic couple and their eventual triumph. The film that I am planning next has a sport-based theme, but it’s got more to do with the triumph of the human spirit.”

Agnihotri hasn’t zeroed in on the star cast yet. “But it’s going to be a big film. Much bigger than CHOCOLATE for sure. I hope to finalize the cast once we’re completely ready with the screenplay,” he adds. A leading corporate house is expected to produce this flick.

Talking of CHOCOLATE, Agnihotri isn’t displeased with its box-office outcome. “I admit, it wasn’t meant for certain audiences [the hoi polloi]. Those expecting Anil and Suniel to bash up ten guys or hoping to catch Emraan in a smooch session were a tad disappointed, but a section of moviegoers have loved the film. The fact that the producers sold the film for a relatively low price as also the fact that the same number of prints are in circulation in its fourth week clearly indicates that the film has found acceptance,” he explains.
