One factor that distinguishes the movies of Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) and other film houses are their titles. Right from Jhankaar Beats , Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi, Mumbai Matinee to Chameli and now ' Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao ', the movies have been made around varied themes and hence the offbeat titles. PKMHJ is a lighthearted frothy love story about three individuals.

Kajol's younger sister Tanishaa Mukherjee who made her debut with Sssshhh… last year forms the female lead of the film. She is joined on the cast by newcomers Akshay Kapoor and Rashmi Nigam (the item girl who sizzled in the Ja Re Ja remix music video). Young actor Kabir Sadanand, who has acted in some TV serials and movies like Mumbai Matinee, Ek Din 24 Ghante, Chameli etc., makes his debut as a writer-director in PKMHJ that has music by Vishal Shekhar and lyrics by Vishal himself.

Storyline

The closest of friends find each other in the corridors of college. True friendships are made while sharing lunch boxes, swapping childhood memories and falling in love for the first time. Amidst pages of history, dreams are dreamt. Of success, love and most importantly lifelong friendship.

Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao! is about three friends who together form the ‘ kurta ' gang.

The ever-consistent Tania ( Tanishaa Mukherjee ) and
The crazy, crazy Goldie.

And then of course there is Sonia ( Rashmi Nigam ). Sonia of the luscious lips, the long curly hair, the honey colored eyes is the stuff that every boy's dreams are made of …and Rahul is no different boy!

The film starts in college and travels with four characters as they set off thereafter to achieve their own individual goals and realize their dreams. And fall in love!

Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao! is a warm comedy with moments of tender romance. It's about love, laughter, loneliness and everything that makes up the wonder years of life.

Crew

The film also introduces a new item girl Jelena Jakovljevic. Her name is as difficult to pronounce as stunning her looks are. After Yana Gupta ( Dum ) and Lucy Barthamelow ( Samay ), Jelena is the third international item girl to enter Hindi films. This immaculate Yugoslavian model is of Dubai origin.

Presenter Pritish Nandy says that he deliberately chose actors without baggage to add to the fresh feel of the film. Also he claims, “Popcorn defies the myth that films with newcomers are always small. This is as big as it gets! All you need to do is open your heart to it – and it will take you places you have never even dreamt of!”

Adds debutante director Kabir Sadanand , “ What I added to the film is that special quality every first time filmmaker brings to his craft – Innocence”.

So, Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao! The film is expected to release September 2004.
