Now, this happens to be the most delayed movie being under making since the past decade. But finally it seems that Sridevi (who is presently re-showcasing her acting prowess through the small screen serial Malini Iyer, directed by Satish Kaushik) will make her comeback to the Bollywood big screen with this film. The film was conceived when Akshay Kumar was a newcomer in the industry while Sridevi was an established actress.
Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin is an action-oriented comedy. It is the story of Durga (Sridevi) who is an outspoken, mischievous and a daring village girl. She gets married to inspector Ajay (Akshay Kumar) and comes to city along with her husband. As per her basic nature, she is always curious to know regarding everybody staying in her basti (locality) and wants to interfere in their lives. She becomes friend to a woman who runs a pan-beedi shop in the basti. Ajay is a brave and honest Police Inspector who has regular encounters with the gangsters working for Bhairav (Anupam Kher). His senior D.S.P.Chorasia (Kiran Kumar) is a corrupt officer who always lends a helping hand to Bhairav.
Once, for a noble cause to save a girl being raped by Bhairav's henchmen at a wine shop, Durga fights with the hooligans and destroys Bhairav's country wine shop. Again to save a girl from prostitution, Durga fights and destroys Bhairav's brothels.
Now Bhairav wants to finish Durga. But Inspector Ajay is there to assist his wife and save her from the law. The remaining film deals with the clash of Bhairav with the Ajay-Durga team.
The film also stars Johny Lever in the role of a comic don - Chitra Gupta and Gulshan Grover. The music of the film is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal while the lyrics are penned by Anand Bakshi and Majrooh Sultanpuri. (This will be musician Laxmikant and lyricist Anand Bakshi's last releasing venture). The film is written, produced and directed by S.M.Iqbal.
