One production house where the studio-lights never go off is the Ramgopal Verma factory. From this factory comes another product supposedly 'hatke' film “Ab Tak Chhapan” directed by Ramu's protegee Shimit Amin (who edited Bhoot). And in the vein of Ramu's last few films like Kaun, Bhoot, Darna Mana Hai and Ek Hasina Thi this film too is completely devoid of songs. Nana Patekar (who striked back with small roles in Ramu's Bhoot and Darna Mana Hai) plays the central character here of an encounter specialist cop loosely based on the real life cop Daya Nayak.
This film is set in the teaming metropolis Mumbai and revolves around the Crime Branch of Mumbai police, set up to weed out the increasing organized crime from the city.
Sadhu Agashe (Nana Patekar) is the leader of this highly competitive and selective team of encounter cops, whose mission is to eradicate crime from Mumbai. However he leads a very normal middle class life at home with his loving wife and young son. During the course of his work he develops a relationship with India's most wanted Don Zameer Zafar.
The strife and resentment continues amongst the officers in the Crime Branch with Imtiyaz Sidiqui vying for Sadhu Agashe's position. Equations change for the worst when a new commissioner arrives in the Crime branch favoring Imityaz Siddiqui causing the enmity to rise between them.
Accused wrongly of crime Sadhu Agahse now becomes a fugitive from the country. What unveils from here forms the climax of the film.
The film is slated to release on February 27, 2004.
