Character Sketch:

Neel: Jimmy Sheirgill

Neel is a brilliant over-achiever at Columbia University. In direct contrast with his 'academic' image, is his romantic side which has Maya's undivided attention. Neel learns that in order to make your dreams come true, you must 'follow your heart'. Along with that come challenges and you need to deal with them with a smile on your face.

Maya Fernandez: Nisha Rawal

Deeply in love with Neel, Maya represents the realistic aspect of their relationship. From an upper class Catholic-Indian family, Maya is intuitive, down to earth yet emotionally driven. She is torn between her father and boyfriend. What she sees and what she believes is a requirement for a sense of security and the need to 'follow your heart' and that too 'Hastey Hastey'.

Sunny Malhotra: Rajpal Yadav

Sunny is a colorful personality and believes in living life to the fullest. He has a way of attracting awkward & embarrassing situations to himself, but is admired by all for the way he always seems to find his way out! His tendency to date multiple girls at the same time keeps him on his toes and multiplies the general excitement in his life. While never happy with one girl (unless her name is Tina!) he does have a persona only his closest friends know about: the warmest of hearts, a hard-worker, and a reliable friend.

Tanvi: Monishka

Tanvi is a call- centre manager in India; beautiful, glamorous & super efficient. She helps Neel and his team to ensure that all the call center issues are taken care of. Her character is a blend of ravishing beauty & mystery. She tries to entice Neel with her charm but all in vain, since Neel gives her a cold shoulder. Dejected in love, Tanvi plots to seek revenge from Neel.

Mad Uncle: Rajpal Yadav

A simple, fickle minded, jovial and family oriented person, Mad uncle takes care of all the members of his family. He gets into his head a wrong notion about Sunny being gay & tries to keep him away from the company of Neel!

Tina Smith: Sarah Thomas

Sunny's love interest, Tina is a mid-western blonde who is sensitive & emotional. While she loves Sunny, she is always conflicted by his flirtatious nature.

Rajpal's Father: Rajpal Yadav

A loving husband & father, who stays in India. On getting to know about Sunny's wild life style he wants him to return home immediately.

Kumar: Shivaram Kumar

Kumar is the popular motivational speaker, who influences his audience and his followers (including Neel) to 'follow their heart'. Usually surrounded by throngs of people seeking his mentorship and wisdom, his words carry a lot of weight. Neel is inspired by Kumar to venture into unfamiliar territory, and derives courage from Kumar's words to get through the tough times.

Synopsis

Neel (Jimmy Sheirgill), a brilliant student at Columbia University and the pretty Maya (Nisha Rawal) the love of his life, are on the verge of starting a new life together in New York. Sunny Malhotra (Rajpal Yadav) is Neel's roommate, teammate and conscience. Academically challenged and a compulsive flirt, he gets involved in a series of hilarious situations with his American love interest Tina (Sarah Thomas).

Just when life seems perfect, Neel accepts a career opportunity that requires him to go to India to set up a call centre business. Much against Maya's wishes Neel travels to India with Sunny.

Tanvi (Monishka) is a young executive who goes out of her way to help Neel and his team in India. Attractive & aggressive she is instantly attracted to Neel and tries her best to win his heart. Neel being deeply in love with Maya rejects Tanvi. Now seeking revenge, Tanvi creates a trap which leads Neel in to deep trouble professionally and personally. Will Tanvi succeed in her plans? Will Neel win Maya's heart again? Will Neel succeed in clearing his name from all the accusations?

Hastey Hastey is a youthful, musical, romantic comedy with a twist in the tale.
