An year back thrillers were in the vogue. Every filmmaker, big or small, was into thrillers, horror movies or murder mysteries. Deepak Tijori takes the trend forward with his second directorial outing after ' Oops '. '' Khamosh - Khauff Ki Raat ' is a "psychological thriller' by producer Rahul Aggarwal, for which the prime USP is it's unique starcast that comprises of Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty, Rajiv Singh, Kelly Dorje, Rakhi Sawant and Shawar Ali. With a story that revolves around a group of people who meet one frightful night and discover that a serial killer is on the loose, ' Khamosh ' should be an entertaining outing. For a movie with a thriller subject and some 'killing' promos, it is surprising to see "melody specialists" Jatin Lalit providing the musical score.
" Mera Mann Bhanwra " by Sunidhi Chauhan is the opening track of ' Khamosh ' that is already vying for a place in Top-10 charts. Designed especially to suit Shilpa Shetty's dancing girl image, it is a lively composition that works for an item number to the T. A foot tapping number, it has good retention value and the effect is enhanced further due to innovative sets, fast paced choreography and Shilpa's presence. A 'seeti-maar' number for the audience it caters to, as the trend goes, there is an ' Instrumental ' and a ' Remix ' to follow. Well, the original is already so good that one doesn't really long for hearing a remix again!
" Love you Baby " by Sunidhi Chauhan is a song of seduction that doesn't really break any new grounds. Primarily composed with an intention of titillating audience (where it may even succeed), it is primarily a space filler in the movie that could take the story forward. Don't expect it to be blazing from your home stereos.
There are a few instrumentals/theme music pieces that find a place in Khamosh , all composed by background score specialist – Sandeep Chowta. " Khamosh Theme " is a haunting track that takes the audience through the killing moments in the film. Next to follow is a seductive tune - " Passion Track " that is inspired from Hollywood love sequences. Nevertheless it works and should turn out to be an enjoyable sequence in the movie. For the lovers of Kenny G, there is a wonderful Saxophone piece in the form of a " Bonus Track " that would be grabbed with both hands by them. People would have a point of view about it being a straight lift or a blatant copy. But then for those looking for good instrumentals without being too worried about the source, it's definitely not a bad deal.
The album ends soon after and one realizes that it is one of the shortest albums to have been composed in recent times – both in terms of duration and number of tracks. With " Mann Bhanwra " coming up in 3 forms, 3 instrumentals and 'Love You Baby', " Khamosh " ends pretty soon. Never mind because whatever is there in the album does make sense for a thriller and there was anyways no need for filling in some mushy numbers to pump up the album size. " Mann Bhanwra " is already a hit number that should boost up the album sales to reach a safety mark.
This one is for Shilpa Shetty!
