Yet another Khan arrives in the Hindi film industry as a hero. Yeah, we are talking about Sohail Khan who makes his debut as a hero with Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. Kid brother of Salman and Arbaaz Khan also directs his own launch vehicle and if we go by the law of averages then MDTD should set the cash counters ringing. This is because he has given alternate hits and flops with his earlier directorial ventures. While Auzaar didn't make much impact on box office, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya was a major Hit. Then came the comic ghostly story - Hello Brother, which was a washout. So what say Sohail this time? Sameera Reddy too makes her debut as a female lead and Munna bhai a.k.a Sanjay Dutt makes an special appearance. A G.S film, MDTD is presented by his own khandaan - Salim, Salman and Arbaaz Khan. A band of lyricists - Faiaz Anwar, Jalees Rashid, Salim Bijnori, Praveen Bhardwaj and 'shakuni mama' - oops - Gufi Paintal write. Music is by Dabbo Malik who gets a major break as a solo composer for a biggie.

Three numbers stand out of the total nine in MDTD - Thoda Sa Pyaar Hua Hai, the title number and Sona Sona. Thoda Sa Pyaar Hua Hai is a beautifully composed melody by Daboo Malik, especially check out the 'antara' part. Lyrics by Faaiz Anwar are sweet and simple and get on your lips soon. The sad version of the same, which has lyrics by Praveen Bhardwaj and has been sung by Sonu Nigam is good as well. In this particular number, Sohail borrows the outfits from the ones wore by bada bhai Salman in Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and looks equally handsome. Sameera too looks extremely gorgeous and has the similar dusky appearance as Bipasha Basu, though at places she also reminds of Papa Kehte Hai girl - Mayuri Kango.

The title song is a fast number that should gel well with the hep audience. A number penned by Jalees Rashid and sung by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. Sona Sona is another fast number that makes an instant impression. Titled Rhythm Of Love, it is sung by Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik and Gufi Paintal writes. Both are racy tracks and good choreography will better their prospects.

'Shanana Na' seems to be a campus number and is not much different from the earlier teeny-hoppy numbers composed earlier. A horde of singers Abhijeet, Alka Yagnik, Jordy, Ayub, Srijit and Daboo Malik sing this song written by Salim Bijnori. An average number that may seem better on screen. Dil Churane Lagi penned by Praveen Bhardwaj is a soft track by Sonu Nigam and Anuradha Paudwal and is just OK. Nothing great shakes but not a downer also.

The theme song 'Ik Deewana' by Daboo Malik, Nayan, Pankaj and Jordy is a situational number that has the story being told in the lyrical form. Nothing-special composition wise, it may not make much of an impact on the listeners. 'Aaja Ve Saajan' by Alka Yagnik and Sunidhi Chauhan is another situational number that fails to rise above average. A song that can be given a convenient skip. The album ends on a somewhat satisfactory note with Kuchh Bhi Nahin Kuchh Nahin. Udit Narayan sounds as he did in 'Hum Pyaar Karne Waale' in 'Dil' and it is good to hear him in his youthful ever. Alka Yagnik joins him in this melodious number that has lyrics by Salim Bijnori.

Don't expect another Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya score from Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. MDTD is just an average album that has 2-3 good/above average numbers.
