1 of 1 people found this review helpful Mere Baap Pehle Aap hardly has a plotline and even that unveils only post the interval. So it obviously opts for the latter formula to accommodate absurdity...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Mere Baap Pehle Aap is a complete time pass venture. Priyadarshan is very clear that he isn't out to become a Madhur Bhandarkar or Amole Gupte and take away accolades.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Mere Baap Pehle Aap kickstarts with a bikini-clad Mumait Khan soaking in the sun and sand, in the company of a dozen other equally under-dressed nymphs providing drool material for a lustful Om Puri and his tacky wig. It's like the makers decided to pack in as much forced hotness possible, in the first five minutes of the movie itself.

There is a clean look to this film; the comedy and the dialogues have no double meaning, a relief when you know every writer wants to cash in on 'sexual innuendos'. The acting is never 'over-the-top' say for a few actors and the timing in most scenes is just perfect.

The film is a typical Priyadarshan film with loads of slapstick at the start; it might offend a few 'class' audiences with some 'crass' one-liners, but a section of the audiences will enjoy it.

The film revolves around the family of Janardhan Wishvnabhar Rane (Paresh Rawal) and his two sons played by Akshaye Khanna (Gaurav) and Manoj Joshi (Chirag). Janardhan is a widower but did not marry as he wanted to give best possible upbringgin to his two sons.

Though the director is not at his funniest best, you don't really mind the slapstick jokes. You can't expect every comedy to be a Hera Pheri. Spoiling the fun are those supposedly funny 'telephone-chat scenes' to establish Akshaye and Genelia's romance that just go on and on.
By Music N Movies, June 13, 2008 - 23:51 IST
The movie begins with screen full of scantly dressed nymphs entertaining drooling Om Puri, introducing his character. Then comes his friend Paresh Rawal, who has two sons one Akshaye Khanna and another Mohan Joshi who are handling both his business and him pretty well.

Hera Pheri is the only genuinely funny movie Priyadarshan has made in recent times and this movie has none of that magical touch.

Mere Baap is the remake of the hit Malayalam film Ishtam, about a loving son trying to reunite his widower father with his lost love.
By Now Running, June 14, 2008 - 00:37 IST
The first hour and fifteen minutes of Mere Baap Pehle Aap is funny, rest of the movie moves at a lethargic pace, never gains momentum and reaches a stage were in it gets quite unbearable to sit through.

1 of 2 people found this review helpful Akshaye Khanna is just wasted, it's impossible to believe this is the same actor who's delivered such heart-felt performances as Border, Dil Chahta Hai and even Gandhi My Father — why would he put himself through this?
