4 of 8 people found this review helpful Laaga Chunari Mein Daag takes us back to a kind of cinema we thought we were done with. Indian cinema threw off the dupatta just a little while ago; let's not shackle it back down.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful The first half of the movie is told crisp but it gets a little dramatic in the second half. The transformation in Badki's character evolves with time and reason. Not only that, Badki's character is expressed in the most convincing and touching way that we tend to care deeply for her...

This movie could have been an explosive bundle of talent, especially when it had Jaya Bachchan, Konkana Sen Sharma and Rani Mukherji sharing screen space. But none of these powerhouse performers can do much to help the loopy film...

The movie starts with a punch and establishes situations well. However, somewhere down the line, it loses pace in places.
The story goes thus... Badki (Rani Mukherji) and Chutki (Konkona Sen Sharma) live a fun-filled life in Banaras with their parents played by actors Anupam Kher and Jaya Bachchan.

2 of 2 people found this review helpful What amused me was the huge compliment the cameraperson paid to Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee in the song that was supposedly shot in Switzerland. Just imagine, they had all the scenic beauty in the world to capture and they focused mainly on close to mid-shots of the two-some...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Laaga Chunari Mein Daag is a blot which is going to sting the Yash Raj Banners and Pradeep Sarkar for sometime now. Watching this film is like attending a show plagued by a poor script and falling narration. On the whole, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag fails to impress.

0 of 1 people found this review helpful The film is not as good as one would have expected Pradeep Sarkar's second film to be. His characters are no doubt lovable but the basic premise that you have to give in to prostitution somewhere didn't strike a chord.

On the marriage day, Kunal Kapoor brings along his elder brother, who turns out to be Abhishek, What a typical bollywood coincidence! What more is Abhishek proposes Rani then and there itself. OMG, has the script writers gone mad, why they want to end up the story so hastily? Rani reveals her dark secret and Abhishek says following...

I'm going with one out of five for director Pradeep Sarkar's Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, a colossal disappointment from the man who gave us the sensitive and heart-warming Parineeta. This one is just a glossed-up Balaji tele-serial, and to be honest I wouldn't blame Ekta Kapoor if she were offended by the comparison.

The second half of the film is shot quite neatly though away from histrionics and havelis, where the track shifts to the fiesty Konkana and Kunal, whose chemistry is worth a dekho. The track is handled well, thanks to realistic situations, locations and brief but brilliant performances by both Konkana and Kunal...
