1 of 1 people found this review helpful Mithya is certainly not a mainstream masala movie. But somewhere along the way, it incorporates elements of the mainstream Hindi cinema and blends it quite well into this 'experimental' genre...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Yet, Mithya works. This isn't a film you're going to watch because of the sheer craft or the romance: you pay for a comic thriller and you get it -- and much more -- anchored in place by a very strong leading man and a director refreshing in an approach that refuses to try too hard. Go watch this: 2008 is yet young, but so far this is the year's best Hindi film.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Rajat Kapoor has successfully picked up the formula and transmuted it into a stylish gangsta rap that is strictly meant for the viewer who likes his cinema unconventional and edgy. The performances are riveting, with Ranvir Shorey playing the pivotal role with pizzazz and Neha Dhupia adding aah-tittude to the gangster's moll, resplendent in '60s style sartorial splendour.

Mithya is like a rollercoaster ride that never stops even as bullets are fired, impersonations are done, people are betrayed by lies and love and the body count piles up. At the centre of all this is a junior artiste VK (Ranvir Shorey) whose life canters out of control because of his resemblance to a famous don Rajebhaiya.

Mithya write-offs the myth that offbeat cinema can’t be entertaining. This one clears the illusion.

With already a film such as ‘superstar’ carrying the double-role element with a mix of action, drama and songs releasing simultaneously; Rajat Kapoor’s Mithya is definitely for the multiplex audience.

Mithya has the power to enjoy the long run at the box office because of its fine performances, refined direction, crafty narration and a different story in the kitty. Watch the thriller take a toll on your imagination.
