THE FILM
Oops Kumar Mangat ji, you did it again! First it was Haal-E-Dil and now it is Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. You produced both the films with just the right intentions. Haal-E-Dil was your lovely daughter's launch pad while with Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, you were aiming at making Govinda a superstar all over again. You gave both the films lavish funding, picked up some of the most exotic locations, allowed friends to wield the megaphone as directors (Anil Devgan and now Ganesh Acharya), inspired composers to deliver music as required by the genre of the films and in the end gave complete freedom to the team to work together and deliver a product that would get a box office success.
Alas, but they have let you down completely! If Haal-E-Dil was poor, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai is poorer. If Haal-E-Dil went completely downhill in the second half, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai doesn't even have a feet to run, whether uphill or downhill. Haal-E-Dil at least made the most of the multiple locations available across the globe; Money Hai Toh Honey Hai just seems to have put a 'langar' on one of the beaches in Mauritius and shot most of the songs just at a single location without even changing a single camera angle.
To be fair, it wasn't after all a bad beginning to Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. Upen Patel led the show as a young man who has to go through the couch of many a fashion and film personalities (all women, thank goodness for that) before landing 'plum' ads like Shilajit, oils, undergarments and what not! His scenes with Archana Puran Singh do raise a chuckle or two on as she exploits him with a promise of introducing him to celebrities. Hansika too leads the bunch when it comes to females and is consistently good with her over-the-top Meera (based on Tulsi of 'Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi') act. Aftab and Celina are paired in such a way that they could well have been brother and sister on screen while Manoj Bajpai has been treated as one of those men who stood fourth in line of his right hand men in Satya.
As for Govinda, he seems to be really uninterested in the film for 90% of his screen time. He is decent but that's about it though in second half of the film he is such a big bore that one almost wants to scream loud and wake him up. As for the narrative, it seems to be truly lost during the last 45 minutes and one believes that either Kumar Mangat (rightly) stopped funding the film and quite a few scenes were not shot or the star cast of the film decided to go on Gandhi's path and ignited a no-cooperation moment!
Chalo ab kahaani ki baat karte hai! Letting aside an entirely impractical plotline of 6 strangers being not just chosen as a heir by Mr. Billionaire Prem Chopra but also made one overnight, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai ranges from being annoying to ridiculous every 10 minutes. One such stupidity is around the heirs being informed that now that they own the business, they are required to repay a loan of 1200 crores which Mr. Chopra had on his head. Of course, amongst all the dumb characters out there, the only wise man (Govinda - yes we are serious!) does question that why they weren't informed about this earlier before they signed on the dotted line, to which the Bank representative replies - 'Paperwork mein time lag jaata hai'!
Mangat saab, sue the bank for it's irresponsible act (inka 20 din ka paperwork aur party ko 1200 crore ka choona)! And also your writer and director who thought that something like this could actually be pulled off!

CONCLUSION
Kumarji, it is sad but true that Ganesh Acharya and his team have actually made such a slip-shod film in the form of Money Hai Toh Honey Hai that it has almost acted as a 'phoonk' to 'Anil Devgan Ki Aag' (read Haal-E-Dil)!
